Festival Safety & Wellbeing

If you’re having issues during the festival, we provide a number of services to help out.

To see the exact location of some of these services, please consult our festival map (found on the Standon Calling app). Or, and this is the general rule for the weekend, don’t hesitate to ask a Steward or Security staff member for help.

Stewards

Wearing hi-vis jackets, our stewards roam the festival day and night and are on hand to assist at all times.

Security Staff

Our fully-trained security team are never far away, patrolling the campsites, arenas and key locations. They are there to help you.

If you have an issue while at the festival, no matter the severity, please talk to one of our Stewards or Security staff . They will contact our event management team who work alongside the police and emergency services and can get you access to the fastest support. Alternatively, if you are able to get to appropriate help at the Welfare Tent, relevant Campsite Hub or First Aid Tent please do so.

In the event of an emergency situation, please don’t hesitate to dial 999 as usual.

Welfare Tent

Located in the main arena, feel free to drop by at any point for wellbeing advice. Whether you’re feeling in distress or simply want a place to chill out away from the crowds, our Welfare Tent is a safe haven for festival attendees, advising on issues including drug and alcohol abuse, safe sex, addiction, exhaustion & domestic issues. The service operates 24/7.

First Aid Tent

There is a First Aid tent in the arena, staffed with medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and mental health practitioners who can provide confidential consultations at any time throughout the duration of the festival. We also have full ambulance access and on-site emergency vehicles to transfer patients.

Campsite Hub(s)

Across Boutique, Lavish Lands and General / Family camping we offer 24-hour campsite hub staffing and patrols. Head to your campsite hub for festival information, camping assistance or to report any issues you may be experiencing in the campsites so staff can help you.

Accessible Camping also has a dedicated team and 24-hour reception.

Top Up Station(s)

For all cashless enquiries and to top up your spending money head to one of our Top Up Stations.

Please note, you can find full cashless information and top up your wristband via the Standon Calling app too.

Information Point

For general festival enquiries across the Standon Calling weekend – or if you don’t know who’s best to speak to – head to the Information Point in the main arena.

We’ve put together some tips for a safer and better festival experience:

• Learn the layout of the festival. Take a look at our festival map ahead of the show. Memorise where you’re camped and decide on a meeting point with friends in case you get separated.
• Make friends with your camping neighbours. Whether you’re in general camping, family, boutique or quiet – get to know your nearby campers. It makes for a nicer festival experience, plus you can look out for each other and see some familiar faces.
• Keep your phone charged so you can contact friends and check our app for any urgent information. Bring a charging battery device for ultimate peace of mind.
• Stay hydrated. We have free to use water points around the site, check our site map to find out where the taps are. We encourage all our festival goers to bring their own bottle to save on plastic waste at the festival.
• Know your limit, please drink and party responsibly. We want everyone to have the best time they possibly can at Standon Calling.
• Security and Stewards – here to help with questions, directions or any problems you may encounter.
• Keep your valuables safe. Please do not leave any valuables in your tents or unattended vehicles. A secure locker service will be provided at the festival.
• Medication – prescribed medication will need to be accompanied by a letter or prescription for the ticket holder, and the medication will need to be in its original packaging with the label. Medication can be stored in the first aid facility or with our accessible team if required. Medical waste can be disposed of with the first aid team.

We want Standon Calling to be a safe place for everyone and therefore do not accept any discrimination towards any individuals or groups. Irrespective of the background of the individual be that gender, race, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity. If you see any behaviour which you find worrying, please report it immediately to one of our Stewards and Security staff.

Standon Calling is committed to creating a welcoming and safe environment for our audience, artists and staff.

We have signed up to the Association of Independent Festivals‘ Safer Spaces at Festivals charter. We commit to work together to make festivals a safer environment for all and take a zero tolerance policy to all forms of harassment, aggression or abuse of any kind.

If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe in any way, you can head to any of our security staff, bar staff, welfare team or medical team to talk and we will take your lead from there. Our security and welfare team are trained in spotting predatory behaviour and supporting reports of sexual harassment, assault and abuse of any kind.

We will be operating the Ask for Angela scheme across all our bars. If you need support, please Ask for Angela behind the bar and the bar staff will know you need help getting out of a situation. They will take your lead on how you wish to proceed with the situation. We also have a safe space at the back of our welfare tent, where you can go to speak about the experiences away from the festival.

We have some tips for making sure you and your children have the best time at the festival. Although a small festival, crowds and loud noises can be confusing for young children. We advise you arrange meeting points, find ways to mark out your camping space and add your phone number to a paper wristband around your child’s wrist. We can supply these for you in our Welfare Tent. If you have lost your child onsite, please find one of our Security, Stewards or head straight to the Welfare Tent where we will work quickly to reunite you.

We do not allow campfires, fire bowls, candles, floating lanterns or any similar naked flames onsite. Certain BBQs are permitted, with conditions of use and we reserve the right to prohibit all BBQs entering the event at short notice on the grounds of event safety. In the event of a fire, please notify a Steward of Security Staff member urgently. Depending on the severity of the incident, do not hesitate to dial 999 as usual in an emergency situation.

Carbon Monoxide is an odourless, poisonous gas. Please take extra caution if using gas stoves and under no circumstances should you have your cooking stove inside or near your tent. For more information on Carbon Monoxide, please head to this website.

Standon Calling has a zero tolerance policy to drugs including: “legal” highs / herbal highs / research chemicals / NPS / poppers / nitrous oxide “laughing gas” and the misuse of prescription drugs. We have searches on arrival to the festival, trying to enter the festival with drugs will result in refusal of entry, eviction or prosecution. We provide a drug amnesty should you wish to safely and legally dispose of any prohibited items before you enter the Main Gate.

As well as having our own security teams, we work closely with the local and national police to control drugs entering the site. We work to ensure the safety of all customers during their time at Standon Calling. This work includes providing medical and welfare staff specialising in drug harm reduction, working with national intelligence to monitor trends and dangers, working alongside the police as a part of our planning and operational running and working with organisations such as Festival Safe to provide information to customers on harm reduction and safety measures. If you have any drug related issues onsite, please speak to any of our Stewards and Security team or head to our Welfare or First Aid Tents.

Please be aware we have CCTV stationed throughout the site for the safety and security of our audience and staff.
