SAY NO TO SINGLE USE TENTS
Each year, an estimated 250,000 tents are left on UK festival sites. The majority are not taken by charity, but instead are sent to landfill. We’re encouraging you to #TakeYourTentHome in partnership with AIF’s 2019 Tent Campaign.
We are happy to be supporting the campaign that has issued a call to retailers to stop marketing and selling ‘festival tents’ as single-use items, which results in almost 900 tonnes of plastic waste every year.
The call comes as part of a new initiative from the Association of Independent Festivals (AIF), which has also launched a campaign urging festival-goers to ‘Take Your Tent Home’ and ‘Say No To Single Use’.
This #TakeYourTentHome campaign is helping to build on the other green initiative we are on board with – Drastic On Plastic. Research showed last year 9.7% of people attending had ditched a tent during that year’s festival season, equating to an estimated 875 tonnes of plastic waste – the equivalent of 70 buses or eight blue whales.
We are also happy to be providing a pre-pitched tent service from one of the campaign partners, Camplight this year.
