INNNSIDE. This one goes out to all the Standon ravers!
This year we’re hosting some of the best music collectives, radio stations and DJ’s from across the globe to keep the party going into the early hours. Below we’ve handpicked five acts that you won’t want to miss a beat from.
Norman Jay MBE
The disco legend has been bringing the funk to punters since the 80’s and this year he will be treating Standon to a set jam-packed with bangers. Norman initially became a household name through hosting notorious warehouse parties some 30 years ago – introducing disco to the masses. Since then he has solidified his status as one of the most influential DJ’s on the planet – a feat that was officially recognised in 2002 when he was awarded an MBE for his services to music.
Simian Mobile Disco
Analogue revivalists Simian Mobile Disco will be beguiling audiences with their off kilter dance music. Made up by duo Jas Shaw and James Ford – Simian remain largely unfazed by electronic trends and instead choose to side with their own creative impulses to create a wild blend of shimmering synths and pulsating beats. Prepare to be dazzled.
Crazy P Soundsystem
With 7 (soon to be 8) albums under their belt and a career spanning over 20 years, house legends Crazy P will be bringing their Soundsystem to Standon for a boogie. Expect the party purveyors to be treating participants to an expertly selected range of deep house and underground disco. Crazy P are the perfect soundtrack for a cocktail in hand and a sunset on the horizon.
Erol Alkan has been a busy boy throughout his esteemed career – launching influential nightclub ‘Trash’, running residencies for Fabric, BBC 6 Music and Boiler Room whilst also remixing tracks for artists that include Daft Punk and Tame Impala. The Londoner is primed to showcase a range of electronica over the weekend and, as his glistening CV suggests, his set is not one to miss.
Swedish producer La Fleur is another one to watch this year at Standon. The former pharmacist traded in prescriptions for parties for good reason – as she was featured on Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show and scooped Mixmag’s Breakthrough DJ award in 2017. Get ready for some atmospheric techno.
