Q&A with Shaun, Performance Lead of the Pandemonium Drummers

We’re back with part 12 of our Meet the Team Q+A’s. This time we’ve called on Shaun, Performance Lead of the Pandemonium Drummers.

Leading the legendary Costume Parade, this group are seriously hard not to be missed!

1. Please introduce yourself and tell us about your role at Standon Calling.

I am one of the performance leaders and a member of Pandemonium Drummers. We are a group of volunteer amateur performers who were originally put together by London 2012 Ceremonies for the pandemonium segment of Danny Boyle’s spectacular Olympic Opening Ceremony. In the 10 years since that time, we have performed at 300+ large and small events including parades, festivals, sporting opening ceremonies, marathons, charity balls, conferences, TV shows etc.

A performance at the 2012 festival was one of the first non-Olympics gigs, since then we have performed at the festival every year leading the fabulous costume parade and entertaining crowds with our roaming performance around the festival site.

2. What’s the best bit about your job?

Bringing a bit of Pandemonium fun to the festival!

As a performance lead of the group, it’s great seeing that all the hard work at rehearsals has paid off – watching audience (and the drummers!) enjoying the performance is wonderful – Its great fun!

3. Tell us, what’s special about Standon Calling?

A great audience who are always up for fun! It’s a fantastic weekend, a temporary escape from reality. The festival is family friendly with lots to see and do but not too big or overwhelming. The festival is one of the highlights in our performance calendar.

Thank you Shaun! Make sure you catch the Pandemonium Drummers paving the way for the parade on Saturday afternoon.
